Collection of non-identifying informationThe County of Renfrew collects non-identifying information from your computer when visiting our websites. This information includes the Internet Protocol (I.P.) address, type of browser, date and time of visit, and the different webpages visited by you. This information is used strictly for statistical reporting purposes, and to design and improve access to information and services available on our websites. This information is not combined with other information or services to determine your browsing habits on websites beyond those operated by us, or to identify you personally.

Cookies

Cookie technology captures total and not individual information on visitor use patterns. This is a computer code that tracks "traffic" so we can determine how effective our websites are in providing information and services to the public. A cookie contains no information that can identify you personally and the County of Renfrew acquires no knowledge of your browsing path once you leave our websites. Apart from providing a performance measure, the data collected by the cookie is otherwise meaningless.

Collection, use and disclosure of personal information

There may be instances where your personal information is required to provide you with information or services. Where your information is required, the amount collected will be limited to the minimum amount and type necessary to provide you with the information or service requested. The County's social media accounts, including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, serve as a way to spread information in a timely manner and enhance the County's ability to share community news with a wide audience.

Third-party content (including community event information, comments and external links) posted on the County's social media accounts does not necessarily reflect the opinions and position of the County of Renfrew, its employees and/or County Council members. The County reserves the right to not post or to delete comments, links and other content that:

  • Are not topically related to the particular message or online site being commented upon

  • Are spam

  • Include foul language or vulgarities

  • Are offensive to an individual or an organization, rude in tone, or abusive

  • Solicit/advertise/promote particular services, products, or political individuals, political campaigns, advocacy groups or organizations

  • Infringe on copyrights or trademarks

Personal information

The County of Renfrew will never sell your personal information. As an upper-tier government in Ontario, we are subject to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, which imposes a general prohibition against the disclosure of personal information, except in limited and specific instances. The County of Renfrew may be required to disclose your personal information; however we will only ever do so as required by law.
