Megan
Lockhart, Bikini Cups Café Sipping
a Taste of Success
Want
a hot cup of coffee with a great
big smile? Or are you looking
for a refreshing
ice
cream cone on a hot sunny day? Perhaps
some pastries will get you through
the
long lazy summer afternoons? If
you answered yes to any of these
questions,
then
there is a new coffee shop in Renfrew
County that is ready to take your
order!
Bikini
cups Café in Deacon is a new business
that is ready to serve up great
treats and lots of fun and smiles
for you. This new business
went from a simple idea to an actual
operation through the hard work
and imagination of 19-year-old Meaghan
Lockhart. Meaghan is
a student at the University of New
Brunswick who calls Golden Lake
home. The Bikini Cups Café
specializes in coffee and pastries
as well as ice cream.
Aside
from the coffee and ice cream, there
are novelties including homemade
bikini tops! As Meaghan says,
“I’ve always wanted to work in a
coffee shop…and this has really
been a good learning experience
for me on how to run a business.”
Participants receive up to
$1500 from the Summer Company
Program that is run by Enterprise
Renfrew County. This money
went towards the opening of the
business, and Meaghan is not looking
back. The Café is open every
day and Meaghan is ready to serve
coffee, ice cream and smiles!
Megan
is one of seven students in Renfrew
County to successfully qualify for
the Enterprise Renfrew Business
Program. The competition is
a program of the Ontario Ministry
of Economic Development and Trade.
It is organized by Enterprise
Renfrew County, a non-profit governmental
business development agency funded
by the Ontario Government, the County
of Renfrew and the Town of Renfrew.
Meaghan can be reached at 625-2999.
